Raven’s Home: Season 1 – Opinion

Raven’s Home premieres July 21, 10pm on Disney Channel.

Premiering in January 2003, That’s So Raven ran for four seasons and 100 episodes on Disney Channel. Now, star Raven Symoné returns to her roots with the sequel series Raven’s Home.

That’s So Raven put Disney Channel on the map, so it was inevitable that in the age of reboots and revivals we’d see Raven’s return.

Seeing both Symoné and Anneliese Van Der Pol reprise their roles as best friends Raven Baxter and Chelsea Daniels is a delight for fans. Their chemistry is unbeatable and they fall right back into their old rhythms.

In a style much like Fuller House, Raven’s now got 11-year-old twins (Issac Brown and Navia Robinson) and Chelsea has a 9-year-old son (Jason Maybaum). They are divorced single mothers raising their families in one chaotic, fun household.

In a major nod to the original series, one of Raven’s kids begins to show signs that they have inherited her trait of catching glimpses of the future, which leads to funny callbacks but new adventures as well.

Is Raven’s Home necessary? Not at all. Is it fun? You bet.
