Ten Days in the Valley: Season 1 – Review

Ten Days in the Valley premieres October 1st, 10:00 p.m. on ABC.

This 10-episode thriller stars Kyra Sedgwick as a mother whose young daughter is kidnapped. Everyone in her life is a suspect, such as her housekeeper and ex-husband. Ten Days in the Valley hooks you immediately with its twists and turns, but also a surprising amount of character depth.

The story is of course chilling and you’ll be frightened thinking “this could happen to anyone.” By the end of every episode you’ll have a new theory about who the kidnapper is and even a conspiracy that spans the city of Los Angeles.

Yet, Ten Days in the Valley seems like something we’ve seen before, like an over extended Law & Order episode. You won’t see every plot twist coming, but they will all feel familiar and not purely original. What keeps this crime mystery watchable is its complex female characters unlike anything you’ve seen on basic network television.

Thankfully, Valley is a limited series, meaning you can rest easy knowing the culprit will be revealed by the season’s end.

I give Ten Days in the Valley a B-.
