Virgin River returns November 27 on Netflix.

My heart simply couldn’t fathom that we’d be getting the second season of Virgin River amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, but lo and behold, critics were given all ten episodes of this feel-good drama. And I must confess, it did not disappoint in the slightest. Of course, I say this from the stance that I am a sucker for small-town rom-coms that follow impossible love stories and warm your heart up to no extent.
Given how 2020 has been, Virgin River is exactly the type of show we need right now. One that makes you feel happiness from within, and pulls out the hopeless romantic inside of you. In similar fashion to its first season, Virgin River continues to follow the story of Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse that starts a new life in a small town. Of course, the second season has her more settled in the simple ways of Virgin River, but it certainly doesn’t mean things have gotten easier in her personal life.
When you tune into watch season 2, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how the story continues seamlessly. It gives you that “catching up with old friends” feeling, except that it’s a show that came back after a year. But honestly, it doesn’t feel like even a day has passed. And that is what I admire so much about this Netflix series. I don’t know how they pull it off, but they make Virgin River feel like home, and the narrative is just so comforting that you feel safe within what is happening. It’s the strangest feeling that I hope one of you will be able to explain to me.
Of course, a show like Virgin River isn’t just about the happy-go-lucky romantic vibes, as we learned in season 1 and you will continue to see in season 2. There is drama, heartbreak, secrets, and some twists and turns that you certainly won’t see coming. Without giving much away, I would recommend keeping a box of tissues by your side because you will definitely need them.
Get ready for an emotionally charged (and adorable) season of Virgin River as we revisit the small town that has it all – love, danger, and extremely good looking people. Seriously, are all small towns like this? Because if so – sign me up!
I can leave you with the promise that you’ll enjoy what the second season of Virgin River has to offer, and by the time you’ve completed it, you’re going to be hoping (just as I did) that season 3 isn’t too far off in the future.
