Bruno Mars: 24K Magic Live at the Apollo – Opinion

Bruno Mars: 24K Magic Live at the Apollo airs November 29th, 10pm on CBS.

Bruno Mars is the greatest live performer of the past decade. You might not like his songs, but when he’s on stage his rhythm and swagger are electric. When I saw him in person at the Super Bowl halftime show back in 2014, the entire stadium was enjoying the show. It’s hard to believe he’s only now getting his first primetime television special.

Taped right here in New York City at the legendary Apollo Theater, the special is a thrill ride the whole way through. Make sure to not miss the beginning, which Mars kicks off in spectacular style, with an epic performance atop the Apollo’s marquee. Another segment has Mars and his band the Hooligans take to the streets of NYC, visiting, singing and entertaining locals in exciting fashion.

While Mars’ latest album, 24K Magic, hasn’t performed as well as past smash hits, expect plenty of tracks from that set list to appear, as the special shares its name with the record. No doubt some old favorites like ‘Uptown Funk’, ‘Grenade’, and ‘Locked Out’ of Heaven will also show up. Can’t let the fans down!
