Barbra: The Music…The Mem’ries…The Magic! – Opinion

Barbra: The Music…The Mem’ries…The Magic! is available to stream on Netflix beginning November 22nd.

We throw around the term “legend” a lot when referring to celebrities, but there’s no disputing Barbra Streisand’s status. In her six decade career, she’s succeeded in many fields of entertainment, and won countless awards. And while Streisand isn’t extremely relevant in 2017, her fan base is not to be underestimated.

Netflix has been conquering media lately, and is starting to break through into music films. The streaming service has exclusive offerings from artists like Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga. Now, Babs is bringing her concert documentary to screens everywhere.

Titled Barbra: The Music…The Mem’ries…The Magic!, the special captures a performance from last year, featuring duets with special guests like Seth MacFarlane, Jamie Foxx, Alec Baldwin, Hugh Jackman, and Melissa McCarthy. There’s no doubt some old favorites like ‘Don’t Rain on My Parade’ or ‘Happy Days Are Here Again’ will make an appearance as well. Plus, there’s a pretty exciting costume change perfect for those watching purely for nostalgia.

The most impressive thing about this is that Streisand herself directed the film, and serves as executive producer. Now that’s commitment!
