The National Hockey League and a substantial lineup of corporate partners rang in the New Year at the 2018 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic – the yearly Jan. 1 regular-season outdoor game – right here in New York City, with lots of festivities at Citi Field leading up to the match between the New York Rangers and Buffalo Sabers. TV and City visited the large area designated for activities and was pleased to find lots of fun experiences. ‘The PreGame’ featured hockey attractions, special appearances, autograph sessions, food, music, and the Centennial Fan Arena touring tribute to a century of hockey thrills. The event was free and open to the public the whole morning on New Year’s Day.
The Stanley Cup:registered: was in attendance at the NHL Centennial Fan Arena. Rangers alumni Adam Graves and Rod Gilbert will stopped by Discover’s display and were hand to sign autographs. NBC Hockey Analyst Jeremy Roenick and Rangers alumni Mike Richter met fans at the Coors Light Upcycled Bar.
Bridgestone, Coors Light, Discover Card, Dunkin’ Donuts, GEICO, Honda, Nickelodeon, Oscar Mayer, Pepsi, and Ticketmaster all had booths and handed out lots of free stuff. Our favorite spot was life-size air hockey at Nickelodeon. We also made our own hockey trading cards at UpperDeck’s station.
