I’ve covered a lot of popups over the years on this site, and I must say, I often don’t see the appeal. Some of these temporary events are truly fun experiences worth the hefty price tag, like last month’s Friends exhibit. But most are utterly pointless, mere photo-ops for Instagram at $30 a ticket.
Unfortunately, the newly launched Tomatoland in Soho falls in the latter category. Seriously, this is the weakest popup in recent memory, offering almost nothing. Supposedly the rooms with giant-size produce (not only tomatoes!) teach visitors about the dangers of pollution and global warming, but it’s not clear how…
