Uncut Gems expands to a wide theatrical release on December 25.

It’s finals week people! I’ve got studying to do, and as much as I love keeping this site updated, the university has got to come first. Basically, I don’t have much time to write an actual review of Uncut Gems. Please accept this quick blurb of my general thoughts as a peace offering.

Two hours of a non-stop roller coaster ride, riding from high to high without ever slowing down. That’s what watching Uncut Gems in a theater feels like. When the credits roll, you almost want to breathe a sigh of relief. This is a tense movie, to say the least.

Honestly, I wasn’t really feeling the first half of the film. It is really intense and just not my style. It never slows down and I actually got a headache. There are no quiet scenes. A million conversations and actions are going on at once. But by the 2nd half? I was super into it! Literally on the edge of my seat. This movie is incredible.

Oh, and Adam Sandler gives a career-best performance in this. That might not be saying much. Additionally, I would love to see some recognition for Kevin Garnett in Best Supporting Actor awards. He was surprisingly great!

I give Uncut Gems an A-.
